POKER AFTER DARK: THE GAME BEGINS

Poker After Dark falls in to the category of NBC's late night early morning shows. This show made its debut on air on the 1st of January 2007 and from then on there has been no turning back. The main plot of the game is to outwit and outplay your opponents in hope of walking away with the total prize money.

Though there are a number of other rival shows based on the same principle of playing for the highest stake, Poker After Dark is a name that shoos away all the rest. The basic format of the game is a buy-in by players that varies according to the shows running as low as $20,000 to as high as $50,000. The higher the buy-in rate the higher the amount of prize money the winner gets to take home.

The game begins as a format of No Limit Texas Hold'em up Poker. Poker After Dark is one of those shows that have a real simple game play blind structure without any fringes attached. One more interesting fact is that unlike other poker shows PAD makes sure to show each and every hand played during the course of the game. First and foremost when the game begins each and every player starts out 100xBB deep. The blind structure takes time to go up thus leaving plenty of room for post- flop/river during the initial stages of the game. This is unlike WSOP tournaments where in the plot crumbles so quickly that the players are left with crumbs between their fingers.

Another interesting fact is the decision to show each and every hand that is being played. PAD is home to some of the best in the world who have perfected their own styles of playing. However it is not always that they stick to their own self, for e.g. a player who normally is aggressive may take time out to test other players before making his move and vice- versa. Showing of hands before every turn enables the viewers to pick up the various plots and strategies that come into play during a game of poker. The show is telecast live for six days of the week i.e. the time taken for a game to end. The time slot is about an hour during the early morning hours. To make the environment more enjoyable Leean Tweeden and Ali Nejad host the show and have proven to be a hit among the audiences and viewers. There have been a number of changes where the host of this show is considered however the above mentioned pair is doing a terrific job on stage.

This particular form of the game is not only for pros but it is also open for the common man. You just need to take part in sister tournaments and win or you can buy-in by paying the requisite amount. PAD is promoted and advertised by Full Tilt Poker and many other sister organizations. It is a show that brings about the true essence of poker game play through a different angle.
